SEGA DC DREAM SHELL hard drive transformation: another way to rebuild the optical drive board

I have n’t played console games for many years in the middle. Because of the epidemic, it ’s so busy at home these days of the New Year. It ’s so painful to hang around at home. I accidentally strolled online and saw that DC can transform hard disks and GDEMU. She (DC) is me. The first host in life, the first lover in life, the thought of her sudden blood surge, her lower body stiffened, her body screaming, and if she was not excited, she turned it over and went out to do it.

Based on the truth that life is frustrating, I chose the latter of the two more mature solutions of GDEMU and DREAM SHELL hard disk drives. The hard disk drive is still highly playable. It can be backed up, exported, archived, and so on. Now, the compatibility is getting better and better, some GDEMU incompatible game hard drives can be played.

Many articles on the Internet such as welding and flashing the BIOS. Students who want to toss on the Internet to search for it on their own, I will not explain it here.

The following are all based on soldering and flashing the homemade BIOS of DREAM SHELL The soldering iron hand shivered, and slowly progressed to be able to solder very small and small solder joints at hand. The process in the middle was still very enjoyable.

Many articles on the Internet generally solder the 44pin IDE cable from the motherboard to the hard disk. I found many articles and found that you can directly connect the hard disk from the optical drive board, which will minimize the risk to a great extent. (The main reason is that my water bottle is too many times, afraid that the motherboard may be damaged by soldering)

Let me talk about the choice of the optical drive board. I now have two optical drive boards with different layouts. See online literature that there is another.

The first one has five capacitors to the right of the white slot.

The second one has four capacitors to the right of the white slot.

The first type has a few points. It is more troublesome. I will use the second type which is easier to route.
Materials and tools: a 44-pin IDE cable, a few solders, a good soldering iron (this is really important), a pair of sharp and godly eyes (this is more important than a soldering iron)

How to disassemble the machine, take out the optical drive, and remove the optical drive board. I will not make nonsense. It is recommended to remove the iron plate with the optical drive facing down, and then screw the optical drive board to the upper iron plate with a screw. Because the switch triggered by opening the cover of the optical drive will be uneven, it is best to pad it with a bit of height to facilitate soldering.

Turn the optical drive board upside down, take out the IDE cable, find a good location, and fix it with tape. (I was afraid that the cable would stay too long for signal attenuation, so I chose to leave the connector of the IDE cable in front)

Fold the line back and measure it for the approximate length and cut it off (try to keep the length as long as possible, I have lost everything here). Note that the red side of the IDE cable must be left on top for easy wiring.

Here we fix it with double-sided tape. It will be very convenient when welding later.

Use a knife to cut the two from the cut one by one, and then two sets of two. The 20th is cut directly from the root because it is not used. (Convenient for welding later. Know the benefits),

The main point of the welding layout is to measure the distance before cutting the welding. In this way, there will be no shortcomings. GND can be left full length to determine the length before wiring.

Welding, welding, welding, welding, welding to the old wasteland to sea dry stone, you can weld these points, and you can successfully complete the transformation from small white to large white. Haha

The IDE line corresponds to the solder joints of the circuit board.

MD’s neck was welded, and finally welded, give him a thumbs up.

The advantage of careful wiring is that the lines that have not been pressed are basically trimmed in the event of virtual soldering, which is quite satisfactory to me as a novice.

Trim the lower cover of the optical drive. If no marker pen is found, mark it with paper tape. Cut it with small pliers and fold it in so that the lower cover of the optical drive can be closed.

Preliminary work Completed Completed Completed! !! !! !!

Hard disk I use 2.5 notebook IDE hard disk for convenience of integration (SATA requires a JM20330 converter 44pin to sata mother, with jumper type). Of course, if you do n’t use 2.5, you ca n’t do it. You can change the motherboard to 12v Already.

Hard disk points: IDE hard disk must jump to slave disk, MBR partition format FAT32, copy the Dream shell system and games and start playing. . . . . .
